At Smart Spaces, giving back is part of who we are. Whether we’re trekking miles for charity, baking up a storm, or selling questionable charity shop finds for a good cause, our team always brings energy, creativity, and a touch of friendly competition to every initiative.
Here’s a look back at some of the ways we’ve supported Alzheimer’s Society, and the fun we’ve had along the way. Together, we raised an incredible £5,757 for this important cause!

Festive fundraising: Elf & Christmas jumper day
December saw the office transformed into a sea of sparkles, elves, and Christmas jumpers as we celebrated Elf Day in support of Alzheimer’s Society.
There were prizes for the best festive look, a Christmas raffle and a sweet twist with a “Guess the number of candy canes” challenge that kept everyone guessing. It was the perfect way to wrap up 2024 – laughter, great outfits, and a shared sense of purpose.

The Great Smart Spaces Bake Off
Our team swapped laptops for mixing bowls for a day, bringing in their best homemade bakes to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society. From classic lemon drizzle to inventive rocky roads, the office table quickly filled with cakes, pastries, and good conversation.
It wasn’t about competition – just great baking, great company, and a great cause.

Trek 13 and Trek 26: Every step counts
In true Smart Spaces spirit, members of our team took to the streets of London for Trek 13 and Trek 26, walking 13 and 26 miles respectively to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s Society.
The treks were tough, with aching legs, many blisters, and plenty of motivational snacks along the way, but the team’s determination never wavered. Every step brought us closer to making a difference for people affected by dementia.

The Apprentice Charity Challenge: Bids, laughs and bold outfits
When charity meets competition, things get interesting. For our Apprentice-style Charity Challenge, teams were given £50 each and a list of creative themes to hunt for in local charity shops:
- Something 80s themed
- An item of clothing
- Something food related
- Something “smart”
- Something your parents wouldn’t approve of
- A “big ticket” item
Once the shopping was done, it was time to sell our finds in a pub auction, with some unexpected bidding wars. Highlights included a Toblerone selling for £40, some truly questionable outfit choices, and plenty of laughter.
It wasn’t just a great day for fundraising; it was a reminder of how collaboration, imagination, and humour can bring people together for good.
Continuing the journey
From festive jumpers to endurance treks, every Smart Spaces charity initiative reflects our culture – connected, collaborative, and committed to making a positive impact.
We’re proud of what our team has achieved so far, and even prouder of the difference we’re helping to make for those affected by Alzheimer’s. Together, we’ve raised £5,757 and this is just the beginning.
Here’s to more moments that matter, and more causes worth walking, baking, and dressing up for.
